Q + A | Prom

Q: Do you offer airbrush makeup application?

A: I do not offer airbrush makeup application. I prefer the look and finish of cream and liquid makeup formulations, and I work with a variety of different professional makeup brands and formulas, choosing the best option for each individual client.

Q: How long will my makeup last?

A: Your professional makeup application will last all day (and night)!

Q: Should I schedule hair or makeup first?

A: I tend to prefer that my clients have their hair done first, but it’s no big deal if makeup needs to be done first for convenience or scheduling conflicts!

Q: May I schedule a trial makeup application or hair styling service prior to my prom date?

A: Of course, you may request a trial makeup application or hair styling appointment! However, it’s certainly not a necessity, and most prom clients do not book trial services.

Q: Do you accept group bookings for prom clients?

A: I am more than happy to book groups for prom makeup and/or hair styling services! For group bookings, discounted group pricing does apply and the on-location fee only applies to the group total (and is usually divided evenly, then added to each client’s total).

Q: Do I need to have any of my own makeup or hair styling products?

A: You do not need any products or tools for your makeup and/or hair appointment.

Q: How long will my makeup application take to complete?

A: Professional makeup applications may take from 30 minutes up to 1.5 hours to complete, but most often prom makeup takes about an hour.

Q: How long will my hair style take to complete?

A: Hair styling usually takes around 30-45 minutes for heat styling only (waves, curls, smooth styles) and 1-1.5 hours for an updo style.

Note: Hair styling appointments may not be available on certain prom dates due to high numbers of requests for makeup application appointments.

Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?

A: Here are the key things to remember the day of your appointment:

  • Wear a V-neck or button front shirt or dress, so that you can change into your prom attire without messing up your hair or makeup.

  • Do not wax any area of the face within a few days of your makeup application appointment! Facials or any other skincare procedures are generally best to avoid within a few days of a makeup application as well.

  • Your face should be makeup-free and well-cleansed. Be sure to wash away any eye makeup/mascara residue from your lashes, especially in the lash line!

  • If you take a daily allergy or sinus medication, remember to take it before your appointment. Excessively watery eyes can really complicate false lash applications!

Q: What do I need to do to ensure that I have an appointment for my requested date and time?

A: Two things have to happen to ensure that I am available on your requested date and that you have been added to my appointment calendar:

  1. Contact me to request your desired date and time! You can use this contact form or send an email to booking@muabykate.com.

  2. Make sure that you receive a confirmation email and/or text from my online calendar! If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact me! I will need to make sure that your appointment has been added to my calendar.

Note: A contract and deposit must be submitted to reserve a date for group bookings.
